Calgary’s residential market remains active although sales and prices are down slightly from last year. The softening of the market is largely due to the tapering of migration into Alberta that we’ve seen the past few years. In a snapshot, the residential real estate markets have now softened considerably in Ontario and BC, as have their rental rates. This combined with the rise in housing costs in Calgary, has lessened the delta which initially drove the relocation move. That said, Calgary’s vibrant economy and desirable lifestyle have kept our residential real estate market stronger than most in North America right now. As in all markets, accurately priced properties are selling well and with interest rates slowly coming down buyers are still finding good value.
